The Westlake Concert Band is a non-auditioned band designed to hone the skills of our musicians. This ensemble meets once a day during the regular school schedule. The Concert Band participates in the Winter and Spring concert as well as attending the district festival. The Concert Band also participates in all Home Football games. The Concert Band is used as a stepping stone to the Symphonic Band, but the students must re-audition for all ensembles each year.

Woodwinds: Each student should have at least three good reeds of appropriate strength at all times. Check with the director if you are unsure as to the reed strength that you should be using. Students should have a clean-out swab appropriate to their instrument to be kept in the case and used after playing the instrument.
Brass: Each student should have valve or rotor oil appropriate for his or her instrument. Trombone players should have the two-part "Slide-O-Mix" and a misting bottle with them to keep their slides moving smoothly.
Percussion: Each student should purchase the Vic Firth EP2 Intermediate Educational Pack. Or students may purchase sticks and bag separately. Required sticks are Vic Firth SD2, Vic Firth M3, Vic Firth M6 and Vic Firth T3. NO TYMPANI MALLETS, BELL MALLETS or SNARE STICKS WILL BE PROVIDED.
